Come to the post Mission Trip Dinner!
It is not too late to support the youth: you can still buy a ticket for the post- trip dinner today at 5 pm. At this event, we serve you dinner and share pictures and stories of our trip. In addition, we are raffling off a chance to win dinner for 8 hosted by Bishop Mariann.
Raffle tickets are $10.00 each. You can pay electronically at   www.stgeorgesglenndale.org/donate or pay at the door.

School Supplies Drive for Gaywood this August
Each year at this time we hold a school supplies drive for Gaywood Elementary School. This year we will be collecting backpacks, lunchboxes, pencils (no mechanical pencils please), pencil pouches, pink erasers, colored pencils, crayons (24 count), dry erase markers, highlighters, glue sticks, child-size scissors, rulers, composition books, pocket folders, index cards (large and/or small), headphones for Chromebooks, spiral-bound art sketchbooks (8 1/2 x 11), tissues, paper towels, disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer, sandwich bags and Ziploc bags. A detailed list is available on the credenza in the narthex. Donations should be dropped off at St George's by Sunday August 21 so we have time to deliver them to Gaywood before school starts on August 29; you can also contact the church office and we will connect you, to make other arrangements. Thank you for supporting the students and families of Gaywood!

Exploring St. George’s History
St. George’s was founded in 1873, after Edmund Bryce DuVal, Caroline DuVal, and Rosalie Ogle, deeded a lot in Glenville to the Vestry of Holy Trinity Parish, Collington. St. George’s will celebrate 150 years in the Fall of 2023 with various sesquicentennial celebrations. A few members have embarked on a journey to learn about the history of St. George’s. This includes researching the original owners of the land, how Maryland’s Indigenous People and the institution of slavery played a role. We are in the beginning stages and we are looking for members who are interested in assisting with research. If you would like to participate, please email the church office and we will connect you.

Warm Nights Sandwich making
We are in need of volunteers again to make sandwiches for the guests of the Warm Nights program. Our next day is Saturday, August 13th. There are also opportunities to work on Saturday, September 10th and Saturday, October 8th, starting at 9 am. It only takes about an hour to pack the 100 lunches we provide. You can sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0A4AAEA62BA46-warm1  Thanks for helping!

Baysox game
St. George’s has a block of 20 box seat tickets, at $11 per ticket, for the Baysox game against the Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh) on Saturday, August 27th at 6:35 pm.  There will be fireworks after the game that night. We can get more tickets at $11 apiece. If you’re interested, contact Roy Peterson.

Toiletries Collection for Gaywood Families
St George's provides monthly food assistance for a number of Gaywood Elementary School families, but those families often need items which fall outside the scope of our food program. Accordingly, during July we will be collecting toiletries for these families, and are asking for donations (full sizes only) of soap, shampoo, body lotion, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes, and feminine hygiene products. Donations can be left in the bin outside the church office. Thank you for helping us support Gaywood families!

Special Q&A with Books to Prisoners July 24
Today, Sunday July 24 at 11:30AM, following the 10AM service, we will have a special live virtual Q&A with Andy Chan, the president of Books to Prisoners, one of the two charitable organizations we supported with our 2022 Lenten offerings. We often donate to causes without getting to see the impact of our gifts, so this is the first part of a series of opportunities for St. George's to learn more about and more closely connect with the people our donations and good works support. Please join us in the Sanctuary or on Zoom  https://zoom.us/j/99133779351#success  to give Mr. Chan a warm St. George's welcome, and bring your curiosity!

Music Director Updates
On August 14 St. George's will say farewell to our music director Josh Fishbein as we celebrate the parish's nearly five years of his ministry with us.  Plan to stay (or come back) for a special hospitality in Miller Hall that day.  Meanwhile, the job announcement for the St. George's Music Director position has been posted and a search committee has been formed.  If you know anyone who may be interested in the position, please contact Tim Dangel at stdangel@comcast.net.

Come Make Prayer Beads this Sunday!
On Sunday, July 10 at 11:30 am there will be a prayer bead making workshop in the parish hall.  The church will provide the beads and we are looking for volunteers who are willing to put the sets of beads together.  No experience is necessary; directions and support will be given.  These sets will be available to those who would like them as a devotional practice and will also stock the rector's supply of prayer beads to give out to those who might benefit from them, similar to St. George's prayer shawl ministry.
