Help Get Out the Vote!
Can you spare ten minutes to make a difference in our nation? This Sunday is the kick-off of our parish project to boost voter turnout in the upcoming federal elections. In ten minutes you can reach out to on again-off again voters via a simple postcard. Join us in the narthex at morning service and the youth spaghetti dinner. Everything you need to send important, non-partisan info is provided, including postcards, pens, voter addresses, and a brief “be sure to vote” message. Questions? Please contact Peggy Alexander, Gretta Estey, Margaret McHale.

The St. George's Youth Group Post-Trip Dinner is This Sunday!
You can still support the youth group by buying tickets to the report back dinner tonight at 5 pm to hear stories and experiences of their mission trip to Savannah, Georgia. Tickets are $15. Additionally, raffle tickets are on sale for $10 to win dinner for eight with Bishop Mariann at her home. The raffle winner will be drawn at the post-trip dinner. Thank you for your support!

Short or long-sleeve
Jumpers, skirts, skorts

The full Gaywood uniform policy is HERE.
Where to buy: Uniforms are available at many retailers, in store and/or online, including Target, The Children’s Place, Amazon, Kohl’s, JCPenney, Macy’s, Walmart, and Lands’ End. Some popular uniform brands are Cat & Jack (at Target), The Children’s Place (at The Children’s Place and on Amazon), and French Toast.

For the month of July, the Bowie Food Pantry is especially in need of boxed macaroni and cheese, canned tuna, condiments (salad dressing, mustard, ketchup, etc.), and toilet paper. Thank you again for your generosity in supporting the pantry. Please bring your donations to church this Sunday, July 14.

GOTV Postcard Writing Begins July 28

Given how high the stakes are in the upcoming November elections, we want to get an early start in sending out our Get Out The Vote (GOTV) postcards and so we will begin on Sunday, July 28. This year we will focus on our neighboring swing state of Pennsylvania as well as our own backyard in Maryland. We will have everything you need to get the message out – postcards, pens, voter addresses, and even a short script to convey our GOTV message. So plan to spend a few minutes with us in the narthex on the 28th – every little bit counts! We’ll be there for each morning service and for the youth spaghetti dinner later that day. Any questions? Feel free to contact Peggy Alexander, Gretta Estey or Margaret McHale.

Call for Prayer Shawls

St. George's prayer shawl supply is low and in need of replenishing. If you are a knitter and have a prayer shawl near completion, please bring it in! We would like to do a blessing of new prayer shawls next Sunday, July 14.

Second Sunday Praying the Prayer Beads Next Sunday, July 14
After the 10 am service on second Sundays, join others to pray the prayer beads for common concerns out in the world or in our lives. See Helen Rowe with any questions.

Bowie Baysox Game August 24

There will be fireworks after the game that night. We can get more tickets at $13 apiece, last year we had 28 attendees! General Convention Notes
• Every three years elected representatives of each diocese throughout the Episcopal Church gather for the General Convention to do the business of the church. Of note is that Presiding Bishop Michael Curry is coming to the end of his nine-year term. The Rt. Rev. Sean Rowe, Bishop of Northwestern Pennsylvania and Western New York was elected by the House of Bishops to be the new Presiding Bishop. He will begin his new role on All Saints Day, November 1, 2024.
• Among many other things that happened at General Convention, St. Georgians may appreciate this: Deputy Matthew Taylor’s proposed resolution to add St. George to the Episcopal Calendar passed as part of a list of additional names for commemoration. St. George will be celebrated on May 6 each year. We will continue to celebrate St. George on April 23, as we always have, but now he is officially part of the Episcopal calendar of saints!
