Food Pantry Donations Collection will be Sunday January 10, 2021, 1-2 pm
Our first effort to collect food donations for the Bowie Food Pantry was a great success, so the Justice League will be sponsoring a monthly drop-off day. On January 10, we’ll be in the parish parking lot to accept donations from 1-2 pm. If you attend services in person on that Sunday morning, you can drop off donations in the narthex (in bags or boxes, please). And thanks for your generosity!

St. George’s Receives a Hero Award
Community Crisis Services (CCSI) awarded St. George’s A Hero Award for Exemplary Community Support  in recognition of the more than 2800 sandwiches that we made to provide lunches for the guests of the Warm Nights Program who have been housed in hotels since the pandemic began in March.
We could not have accomplished this feat without the support and contributions of many parish members who helped by shopping for food, making sandwiches, and providing water on a weekly basis for 21 consecutive Saturdays! The labor for this endeavor was important, but we wouldn’t have been able to have the needed  supplies without the extremely generous gift from an anonymous donor which took care of all the financial needs for this mission. The Justice League is very grateful for the continuous support that the people of St. George’s provide any time we ask.

Epiphany Evening Prayer on January 6 at 7 pm
We sing of the Three Kings on Epiphany, but have you heard of the fourth member of the Magi?  This year we will hold a special Epiphany Evening Prayer service on Wednesday, January 6 at 7:00 pm.  We will gather in prayer to begin the Season of Epiphany, and reflect on our own experiences as reflected in the sojourns of Artaban, the fourth of the Magi.  The service will be held on Zoom.  Here is the link.

Special Donations for Christmas/Year End
As you plan your Christmas or year end giving, please remember St. George’s. Although regular pledges make up roughly 75% of our income, we also count on special donations around major feast days like Christmas and Easter. If you feel moved to make a special donation before the end of the year, please let us know it's for Christmas. If you send a check to our PO Box, please write “Christmas” in the memo line.  If you send a contribution via Zelle, please put "Christmas" in the comment box. If you use our online donation page, enter your donation amount in the box next to "Special Holy Day Donation" and write "Christmas" in the text box. Thank you to all those that have given contributions!

Blue Christmas Service on December 22, 2020
Sometimes called the “longest night service” because it takes place near the time of the Winter Solstice, a blue Christmas service acknowledges the loss and pain that we experience, especially at a time when our culture is imposing an over-amped sense of joviality.  We gather to reflect on our loss and to offer prayers of comfort and healing with the sure expectation that the coming of Christ into our lives inspires the truest experience of Christmas joy.
At St. George’s, we will gather this year on Zoom at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 22. Here is the link or call in by phone at (301) 715 8592 and when prompted enter the Meeting ID number:  940 4461 9967
