Blessing of the Animals October 4
Come to St. George’s this Tuesday early evening for the blessing of the animals. This year, we will hold this ceremony outside in front of the church at 6:00 pm. Bring a lawn chair; we will also have some chairs on hand if you cannot. All of our four-legged friends are welcome to be there in the flesh, or you may bring a photo or object as a stand-in if your critter doesn’t like to travel. We will also remember animals who are with us no longer yet hold a special place in our memories. Warm Nights Sandwich making We are in need of volunteers again to make sandwiches for the guests of the Warm Nights program. Our next day is Saturday, October 8th. There are also opportunities to work on Saturday, November 12th and Saturday, December 10th, starting at 9 am. It only takes about an hour to pack the 100 lunches we provide. St. George’s will celebrate 150 years in the Fall of 2023 with various sesquicentennial celebrations. A few members have embarked on a journey to learn about the history of St. George’s. This includes researching the original owners of the land, how Maryland’s Indigenous People and the institution of slavery played a role. We are in the beginning stages and we are looking for members who are interested in assisting with research. If you would like to participate, please reach out to the office. At 10 AM this morning we will start streaming the service. You can watch here, on our YouTube channel, or you're welcome to join other parishioners on Zoom. Follow along with the service booklet: Open the booklet in a new tab in your browser by holding down CTRL before clicking the link. If you're on a phone or table, long press on the link and select Download File to open it in a new tab or to save the booklet.
