Accessibility

We wish for everyone at St. George's to feel welcome and feel able take part in our services. Here are some details about how we try to make our church more accessible for everyone.

Accessibility of Main Church Building

Click on a section below for more details.
Mobility
Parking

Parking Lot
The church parking lot has two designated van accessible parking spaces immediately to your left as you enter the parking lot. These spaces are located approximately 83 yards to the front entrance to the church.

There are no steps from the designated parking spaces along a brick sidewall to and into the front door of the main level of the church.

Street Parking
On street parking directly in front of the church is possible.

Drop Off Area
There is, typically, a drop-off area designated by traffic cones directly in front of the church entrance. It is approximately 80 ft. no-step access from the street curb to the sanctuary.

First Floor/Main Level
The entire first/main level of the church is wheelchair accessible. Bathrooms on both levels are fully wheelchair accessible.

The first level contains the sanctuary, offices, restrooms, kitchen, Parrish Hall and elevator to the ground level.

There are two open designated wheelchair spaces in the sanctuary, one on each side of the center aisle.  The sanctuary contains individual seats for the congregation. Therefore, in addition to the open spaces, additional spaces can be readily provided upon requesting a church attendant to remove individual chairs as needed.

Communion is offered at floor (no-step) level.
Communion will be brought to the congregant’s seat, if needed, upon notice to a church attendant prior the service.

Basement Level
This level contains classrooms/meeting rooms and
can be accessed via a wheelchair useable commercial elevator located between the sanctuary and the Parrish Hall.
Hearing
Assistive listening devices are available by request upon arrival at the church. Microphones are used by the Rector and readers throughout the service.
Seeing

Accessibility of the Historic Chapel

The historic chapel is immediately adjacent to the more recently constructed church. It Is not accessible for wheelchairs as it has steps at the front entrance. However, a minimal number of activities are held in the Chapel.

If attendance at any of these activities are to be attended by a person(s) with disabilities, such activities will be relocated to the main, newer church.
