Daylight Savings time
Daylight Savings Time ends on Sunday 11/6. Remember to set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed Saturday night 11/5! All Saints Day Service of Remembrance St. George’s will celebrate an All Saints Day Service of Remembrance on November 1 at 7pm for those buried in the church cemetery and those who have died for whom we will be praying for. This service will also be available on zoom. Check the Church’s calendar for link to the service. Jacket & Warm Clothing Drive Now through the middle of November, we will be collecting warm clothing, primarily outerwear, in support of the International Students Admission & Enrollment Office (ISAEO) of the Prince George’s County School System. ISAEO registers and provides support services for international PGCPS students and their families. ISAEO reports that they've had a very busy registration season; registrations for families coming from outside the US are up approximately 30% over this time last year, and many of these newly arrived families do not have clothing appropriate for Maryland winters. You can help support these children and their families by donating new or gently used coats and jackets (pre-school sizes through adult medium), as well as hats, scarves, and gloves. Please be sure any used items are clean and in good condition (zippers work, no missing buttons, no rips or tears, etc.) Donations should be placed in the bin in the narthex. Please contact the office if you have any questions. Thank you for your generosity! At 10 AM this morning we will start streaming the service. Many Thanks -- St George’s Got Out the Vote!
After three “Postcard Sundays” in August, September and October, we are delighted to let you know what a huge success this project has been. This year St Georgians reached out to 211 intermittent Pennsylvania voters to remind them how vital it is to our democracy that voters do just that – vote. Last year the outreach to our Virginia neighbors was 150 postcards, so we are looking at a 40% increase – without even breaking a sweat! Who knows where future efforts will take us? Stay tuned for the next election season. In the meantime, be assured of our gratitude to all who gave their time to participate. Sincerely, Peggy Alexander, Gretta Estey and Margaret McHale. All Saints Day Service of Remembrance St. George’s will celebrate an All Saints Day Service of Remembrance on November 1 at 7pm for those buried in the church cemetery and those who have died for whom you would like prayers. You can submit the names via email ([email protected]) with “All Saints Day prayer intentions” in the subject line or by completing the form found on the credenza. The deadline for submitting names is the end of the day Thursday October 27. At 10 AM this morning we will start streaming the service. You can watch here, on our YouTube channel, or you're welcome to join other parishioners on Zoom. Get Out The Vote – THIS WEEK, October 16, Is Our Final “Postcard Sunday”
“Last call” to those who want to support this year’s non-partisan educational effort to remind intermittent Pennsylvania voters just how crucial their ballots are to maintaining our democracy. Postcard messages only take a few minutes of your time, and we provide everything you need to get the job done – postcards, stamps, message content and voter addresses. Tables will be set up in the narthex before and after each service, and it’s a fun and easy way to make a difference. Hope to see you there, whether you’re an experienced writer or it’s your debut event! Questions? Please contact the office. This year, we will hold this ceremony outside in front of the church on Saturday 10/8 at 10:00 am. Bring a lawn chair; we will also have some chairs on hand if you cannot. All of our four-legged friends are welcome to be there in the flesh, or you may bring a photo or object as a stand-in if your critter doesn’t like to travel. We will also remember animals who are with us no longer yet hold a special place in our memories. At 10 AM this morning we will start streaming the service.
