Come Make Prayer Beads as a Lenten Practice on March 6
On Sunday, March 6 at 11:30 am there will be a prayer bead making workshop in the parish hall. The church will provide the beads and we are looking for volunteers who are willing to put the sets of beads together. No experience is necessary; directions and support will be given. These sets will be available to those who would like them as a devotional practice and will also stock the rector's supply of prayer beads to give out to those who might benefit from them, similar to prayer shawls. Looking for a Daily Reflection this Lent? Try This One The season of Lent begins on Wednesday, March 2 which begins our forty-day Lenten journey to Easter. This Lent at St. George’s we are using a devotional called Lent in Plain Sight: A Devotion Through Ten Objects by Jill J. Duffield. Each week the book highlights an everyday object and invites our daily reflection. Copies of this book are available free for anyone who would like one. Consider it an invitation to a holy Lent. You can read it on your own, or join in a weekly reflection with other members of the parish who are also using the book this season. The plan is to have a session of weekly reflection on Monday nights from 7 – 8 pm on six Mondays - March 7, 14, 21, 28, April 4, 1l. If there is interest, we will also offer a daytime option at 12 noon on Wednesdays starting March 9. The signup is: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0A4AAEA62BA46-lent; please specify whether you wish to participate Mondays at 7 pm or Wednesdays at noon. Even if you don’t participate in the group reflection, consider picking up a copy of the book - available at St. George’s now - and using it as a companion through the season of Lent. Funding for this project comes monies designated for spiritual development as part St. George’s Ensuring our Future fund. Ash Wednesday Services This week March 2nd March 2 is Ash Wednesday and St. George's is offering two services with Holy Communion and Imposition of Ashes, at 12 noon and 7 pm. Both services will be in the main sanctuary. The 7 pm service will be livestreamed via Zoom and YouTube. Connie+ will also be available at the church from 8:00 - 9:00 am and 1:30-2:30 pm for individual prayer and Imposition of Ashes. At 10 AM this morning we will start streaming the service.
