Race and Reckoning: An Exploration into Reparations
Friday, January 29, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

On the evening before Diocesan Convention, the Diocese of Washington will host a candid conversation on the history of race both in the United States and in our local area with Bishop Eugene Sutton of the Diocese of Maryland, Bishop Mariann, and representatives of the Diocese of Washington’s Reparations Task Force. Learn more and register here.

2021 Annual Meeting to be Held February 21
The Annual Meeting of St. George’s Church, Glenn Dale Parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington will be held on Sunday, February 21 at 10:30 am.  The worship service that day will be at 9:00 am, before commencement of the Annual Meeting at 10:30.  It will be held virtually via Zoom and be livestreamed from the sanctuary. There will be no virtual hospitality that day.  All members of the parish who are in good standing have voice and vote at the meeting. There will be a mechanism for voting and those details will be forthcoming.
The Parish Annual Meeting is our opportunity each year to talk about the state of the parish, update parishioners on our financial status, elect vestry members and parish delegates, express our gratitude to those who have served, and do any other necessary business of the church. We would like everyone’s participation.

St. George’s Virtual Pizza Party Sun. January 31
In adjusting for the current circumstances of 2021 set aside January 31 at 6 PM for a virtual St. George's Pizza Party. Make a pizza at home or purchase one from your favorite pizza place and let's come together and enjoy a few slices and some fellowship over Zoom. Here is the link.  Or call by phone 301-715-8592 and when prompted, enter the meeting ID number: 996 0569 8930  We may even have some pizza trivia and there's talk of a possible contest for who has the best looking pizza. So grab a pan, fire up the oven, and we'll see you on the 31st. If you have questions, please contact Michael Mangiapane at theblackdog@gmail.com
Here is a pizza dough recipe that you can use.
Ash Wednesday Service February 17th
The details about Ash Wednesday offerings at St. George's are still being finalized, but what we know for sure is that there will at least be an Ash Wednesday service live streamed at 7:00 pm on February 17, which can be accessed via Zoom or directly from YouTube.  More to come so stay tuned as we look towards the start of the season of Lent.

Toiletries Collection Sunday  January 24, 1-2 pm
Gaywood Elementary School wishes to provide toiletries & hygiene items for students & their families. To assist them in this effort, the Justice League will be collecting donations of the following products on Sunday January 24: shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, powder, deodorant, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash, tissues, sanitary napkins, combs, brushes, and wash cloths. Gaywood has specifically requested smaller sizes of these products, including travel sizes, so that they may more easily bundle and distribute them. Note that these items will be available to all Gaywood students, not just the families in our food program. Donations can be dropped off in the narthex Sunday morning or in the parking lot from 1-2pm. Thank you for your generous support of the Gaywood community!
