Jacket and Warm Clothing Drive
From now until the end of November, we will be collecting warm clothing, primarily outerwear, in support of the International Students Admission & Enrollment Office (ISAEO) of the Prince George’s County School System.  ISAEO registers and provides support services for international PGCPS students and their families, and has been very busy this fall registering students from migrant families. In particular, ISAEO has seen an increased number of families coming from Venezuela; many of these families arrive with almost nothing, and especially need clothing appropriate for Maryland winters. You can help support these children and their families by donating new or gently used coats and jackets (pre-school sizes through adult medium), as well as hats, scarves, and gloves. Please be sure any used items are clean and in good condition (zippers work, no missing buttons, no rips or tears, etc) Donations should be placed in the bin in the narthex. For those who prefer, we are also collecting $25 Target gift cards which can be used to purchase other items students might need such as boots, socks, and uniforms; see Ed Neuschler to buy cards through St George's scrip program and give the cards directly Randy or Donna Haselton. Please see Donna Haselton if you have any questions. Thank you for your generosity!
Stewardship Season
It is our time of reflection on what God has given us and what it means to take the next faithful step in our giving – also known as Stewardship Season.  The stewardship packet will be available in person or via mail for you to read, mark, learn and inwardly digest as you consider your pledge for 2024 and above and beyond giving to the Ensuring St. George’s Future fund.
This morning we hear a stewardship reflection from Josephine Ross.  Many thanks to Josephine for sharing her thoughts with us this season.

Save the Dates - More 150th Celebrations!
There are a few other special events being planned to celebrate St. George's 150th anniversary this fall.  On Sunday October 29 there will be a presentation on St. George’s History, including the history of the land that the church is on and how it came to be the site of our building. Also, on Sunday November 19 during the 10:00 am service there will be a celebration of 150 years of music at St. George's.  Finally, on Sunday December 3 at 4 pm there will be a special concert followed by a reception in Miller Hall.  Mark these on your calendar now.

Stewardship Season Kicks Off Today
This morning begins our time of reflection on what God has given us and what it means to take the next faithful step in our giving – also known as Stewardship Season.

Exploring St. George’s History Presentation is October 29
As part of our Sesquicentennial celebration in 2023 there has been a dedicated effort by a group of St. Georgians to learn about and reflect on St. George’s history.  The fruits of their labors will come to the parish in the form of a presentation following the 10:00 am service on Sunday October 29.  On that Sunday you are invited to come back to the sanctuary after the 10:00 am service and a brief hospitality time for a power point presentation and talk.  We hope you will take this opportunity to learn more about our parish’s history as we celebrate 150 years.

All Saints Service Wednesday November 1 at 7:00 pm
On November 1 we will celebrate and remember those who are buried in St. George’s cemetery with a service in the chapel at 7:00 pm.  This memorial Eucharist gives us the opportunity to pray for those who have died at St. George’s and also those you wish to remember.  The form for names can be found on the credenza or you can email names to the office at [email protected].  PLEASE NOTE that to ensure emailed names get on the list you should put “Nov. 1 Service Names” in the memo.

Participate in a Local Taize Service (Oct 17-23)
Taize is a community of ecumenical (not tied to a specific denomination) monastic community in France. They are known for the short, repeating songs written in many languages - we sing them sometimes in service at St. George's. One of the Brothers is traveling to our area October 17-23 and there are several opportunities to join a Taize-style service locally. They are wonderful spaces for peaceful, reflective contemplation. See full details here: https://www.taize.fr/en_article27387.html

Warm Nights Breakfast and Lunches
Please consider signing up to bring the food items needed for Warm Nights Breakfasts and Lunches. We provide breakfast and lunch for 100 guests. We can use shelf stable milk, boxes of assorted breakfast bars, assorted packs of oatmeal, salty lunch snacks. We also need bags of apples and oranges as well as cases of 16 oz bottles of water.
All the supplies should be brought to church by today Sunday, October 8.
Thank you for helping St. George’s share our bounty with others. “

Discover, Embrace, Become series, which began October 2, 2023, Continues!
This fall, St. George’s will be offering the first module of the Discover, Embrace, Become series provided by the Episcopal Diocese of Washington’s School for Christian Faith & Leadership. The Discover, Embrace, Become series is an invitation to deeper engagement with Christian life suitable for both newcomers and longtime parishioners called to go deeper into their faith.
The Discover module consists of six sessions where we will listen to God in our lives and in Scripture. Each session includes a brief video lesson, a discussion about our spiritual journeys, a Scripture reflection, and a closing prayer. By sharing our stories and studying Scripture, we will explore how God is working in our lives and calling us to go deeper.
We will continue to meet at 7pm on Mondays. If you would like to join, please sign up in the Narthex or speak to Terry Doyle or Karen Horrocks.
