Get Out The Vote THIS WEEK
Once again Saint George’s is sending postcard reminders to intermittent voters, and for this year’s election we are focusing on our neighboring swing state of Pennsylvania. Our message is educational: invest in the future of your state and nation, and be sure to VOTE. We will provide the postcards, stamps, message content and voter addresses.  All you have to do is share a few minutes of your time to write the cards!  Tables will be set up in the narthex before and after each service on Sunday, August 28.  Join the fun, get involved, and make a difference!  (FYI, future postcard Sundays are September 11 and October 16.)  

Music Director Updates
The job announcement for the St. George's Music Director position has been re-posted. The new deadline is Friday September 16th, 2022. There is a full job description on the bulletin board. If you know anyone who may be interested in the position, please contact the office and we shall connect you.

Exploring St. George’s History
St. George’s was founded in 1873, after Edmund Bryce DuVal, Caroline DuVal, and Rosalie Ogle, deeded a lot in Glenville to the Vestry of Holy Trinity Parish, Collington. St. George’s will celebrate 150 years in the Fall of 2023 with various sesquicentennial celebrations. A few members have embarked on a journey to learn about the history of St. George’s. This includes researching the original owners of the land, how Maryland’s Indigenous People and the institution of slavery played a role. We are in the beginning stages and we are looking for members who are interested in assisting with research. If you would like to participate, please contact the office and we shall connect you.

Hard to believe, but election season will soon be upon us.  Once again, Saint George’s parishioners will be sending postcard reminders to occasional voters, and this year we are reaching out to our neighboring swing state of Pennsylvania. The basic message: invest in the future of your state and nation, and be sure to VOTE. We will provide the postcards, stamps, message content and voter addresses.  All you have to do is share a few minutes of your time to write the cards!  Tables will be set up in the narthex for both the 8:00 and 10:00 services on Sunday, August 28 and Sunday, September 11 (as well as a Sunday in October). School Supplies Drive for Gaywood this August
Each year at this time we hold a school supplies drive for Gaywood Elementary School. This year we will be collecting backpacks, lunchboxes, pencils (no mechanical pencils please), pencil pouches, pink erasers, colored pencils, crayons (24 count), dry erase markers, highlighters, glue sticks, child-size scissors, rulers, composition books, pocket folders, index cards (large and/or small), headphones for Chromebooks, spiral-bound art sketchbooks (8 1/2 x 11), tissues, paper towels, disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer, sandwich bags and Ziploc bags. Donations should be dropped off at St George's by Sunday August 21 so we have time to deliver them to Gaywood before school starts on August 29. Thank you for supporting the students and families of Gaywood!
