Food Drive
The monthly Food Drive for the Bowie food Pantry is Today November 21st. This month the foods they need most are: Soups, granola bars, peanut butter, jelly, dessert items such as pudding, brownie and cookie mix. They can also use personal care items. We will load up the donations immediately following the 10:00 am service. Thanks for your continued generosity. An Invitation to Advent Devotions – November 29, December 6 and December 13 This Advent, you are invited to engage in a time of group prayer and scripture study on the first three Mondays of the season. On November 29, December 6 and December 13 at 7 pm we will gather for prayer and reflection together on the Advent readings from the prophets. November 29 and December 6 will be via Zoom using https://us06web.zoom.us/j/81012976653?pwd=Mi9aUldXQmhvYjVoUDlZOWxmMTQzU9 and on December 13 we will gather in person in the sanctuary. Consider making this your Advent devotion this year as a way of observing this season of preparation for Jesus' birth. Thanksgiving Agape Meal Is on November 23 at 7:00 pm. Let’s get together and break bread as part of Evening Prayer on November 23. The plan is to meet, perhaps at your kitchen or around your dining room table as we are linked to one another via Zoom. Or maybe you will have just finished dinner and retire to the family room or den where you can come online. And speaking of bread, you might even decide to bake your own loaf of bread with the directions we will provide for making a no-knead bread that you can make with the kinds of kitchen ware that most of us have. In the course of the service, we will reflect on scripture and the themes of giving thanks, sing a few hymns and then bless bread (either the bread you make or the loaf you get from a store) and a beverage (could be wine or juice, for instance). Winter Outerwear Drive For the next 3 weeks, we will be collecting new and gently used coats and jackets, and new hats, scarves, and gloves for the students of Gaywood Elementary School in Seabrook. Gaywood students are in Pre-K to 5th grade, so Gaywood is primarily looking for sizes 5/6 to sizes 14/16. Because of concerns about covid, Gaywood initially asked that all items be new but they will also accept used coats and jackets that are in good condition and have been laundered or dry cleaned. Donations should be brought to St George's by Sunday 12/5 so that we can deliver them to Gaywood no later than Friday 12/10. Thank you for helping us support the Gaywood community. |
