Purchasing Supplies for Warm Nights Breakfasts and Lunches
Once again, we can use nonperishable supplies for the breakfasts and lunches St. George's makes each month for the guests of Warm Nights. Specific items are needed. You can sign up on the lists in church, or by using the link https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0A4AAEA62BA46-warm2. We need to receive the donations for May by Sunday, May 7.  If you have any questions, see Peggy Alexander or email [email protected].  Thank you.

Youth Mission Trip Dinner with the Bishop Raffle
Please support the St. George’s Youth group as they prepare for their annual Mission Trip. The youth are currently selling $10.00 raffle tickets for a chance to win a dinner for 8 which will be hosted by Bishop Mariann. The tickets are available at the church for cash payments or can pay electronically at www.stgeorgesglenndale.org/donate, or Zelle to  [email protected]. or Cash App to $StGeorgesGlennDale. Valerie Maloney's Funeral to be held Monday May 8 at 10:30 am
On Monday the 8th of May at 10:30 am we will celebrate the life of Valerie Maloney with a service at St. George's.  There will be a viewing at 10:00 am before the service begins.  Valerie was a faithful 8:00 parishioner who died suddenly on April 20.



Social Justice Biography of the Saints April 30 - Jonathan Daniels
Come and learn about Jonathan Daniels, Civil Rights martyr and 2023 winner of Lent Madness as we continue in the social justice biographies of the saint’s series Today Sunday April 30 at 11:30 am.  The Rev. Charles Hoffacker will share about Jonathan Daniels, who was a native of Keene, NH, valedictorian of Virginia Military Institute class of 1961, and Episcopal seminarian killed while working in the civil rights movement in Hayneville, near Selma, Alabama in 1965. His life and witness are commemorated in the Episcopal calendar of the church year on Aug. 14. You can participate in person in the sanctuary or via Zoom.

​Marietta House Museum’s Lunchtime Lecture Series
On Wednesday, May 3, 12noon – 1pm Marietta House Museum will present a Lunchtime Lecture featuring histories of Amelia and Jacob Duckett’s family. Their family was enslaved at Marietta, a tobacco plantation, in what is today Glenn Dale. Please join House Museum director Julie Rose as she shares multiple histories of the Duckett family members—stories of self-liberation, Underground Railroad, marriage, war, and life in Washington, D.C. post -Emancipation. Guests are welcome to bring their lunch and enjoy conversation and new friends.  Tours of the house are optional following the lecture.  This is a free lecture.
