EDOW Service for
Bishop Chilton

All are invited to gather at the Washington National Cathedral in person or via live stream at 5:30 pm this Wednesday, September 29 (coincidentally her 75th birthday!) for a fond and grateful farewell to our beloved assisting Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Chilton Knudsen. Celebrating the many gifts she has shared with us, prayers of commissioning and blessing will be offered for her new call as assisting bishop in the Diocese of Chicago. If you’d like to write a note to Bishop Chilton, it may be emailed to Amanda Anderson (aanderson@edow.org) or mailed to Amanda’s attention at Episcopal Church House, Mount Saint Alban, Washington, DC 20016-5094, to be included in an engraved memory box.

Book Study Monday September 27
Join our continuing book study as we focus on Paul’s Second Letter to Timothy using a book entitled The Heart of a Leader: Saint Paul as Mentor, Model and Encourager by Edward S. Little.  The seven class sessions are held via Zoom on the second and fourth Mondays through December 13 at 7 pm. Please contact Terry Doyle terrencedoyle@msn.com to receive a copy of the book.

Animal Blessing Saturday, October 2

The tradition of blessing the animals at St. George's is alive and well!  You are invited to bring your animal companion for a brief outdoor service of celebration and blessing on Saturday, October 2, at 1:00 pm.

Celebrate St. Francis Sunday, October 3

On Sunday, October 3 the worship service is centered on St. Francis, whose feast day is October 4.  This year we go beyond the blessing of the animals (that service is Saturday Oct. 2; see announcement above) and focus in on St. Francis not just as a lover of creation, but as a radical follower of Jesus.  Join us October 3rd at 8 and 10 am for this special service with guest preacher John Rebstock, himself a Third Order Franciscan.
