St. George’s Lenten Outreach 2022
It is a long-standing tradition of St. George’s to encourage parishioners to participate in St. George’s Lenten Outreach Project. Each year the Justice League (St. George’s outreach and social justice group) identifies charities as a focus for Lenten donations, and parishioners are invited to donate towards the identified project. This year the Justice League has chosen two organizations, the Haiti Micah Project and Books to Prisoners. Donations will be divided equally between the two organizations allowing us to serve two different populations with distinct needs. As you consider your Lenten practice this year, please consider a donation. If you set aside 50 cents a day, your donation at the end of Lent will be $20.00. Just $1.00 a day will provide $40 to support the needs of children in Haiti and those isolated in prison cells, some of whom may have grown up in our community. We hope to have a generous amount to contribute to these organizations at Easter. Parish Clean Up Day - April 2 The Building and Grounds team is looking for helping hands on Saturday, April 2, from 9am-1pm at St. George’s Church. We will clear/clean up the basement, storage areas, stairwell in the rear of Miller Hall, the Sacristy, and the Children’s Corner in the narthex. Please, give us a hand if you are available. Questions? Contact Zulma Santiago at [email protected]. Healing Service April 5 at 7 pm The Pastoral Care Team will offer a service of healing prayer on Tuesday, April 5 at 7 pm. What in your life or in our world needs healing? Come and voice those prayers, participate in the sacramental rite of laying on of hands and anointing if you choose, and join with others as we pray for all that is not well in us and around us. At the service we are also planning for special prayers for Ukraine and for all who have died of covid over the past two years. |
