Hospitality at St. George’s Vegetarian for Lent
Did you know that St. George's is designated an animal friendly congregation by the Episcopal Network for Animal Welfare (enaw.org)? Animal friendly congregations agree to support members engaged in animal welfare ministries, hold an annual animal blessing, and serve vegetarian fare during Lent. So, hospitality hour will be going vegetarian for Lent! If you have any questions, please speak with Karen Horrocks.

Lenten Practice - Beyond Words: 15 Ways of Doing Prayer
During Lent this year, we are exploring forms of prayer using the book “Beyond Words: 15 Ways of Doing Prayer" by Kirsten Johnson Ingram.  In short but hearty reflections, she invites us to widen our ideas of prayer, considering how walking a labyrinth, planting seeds, dancing, cooking, and feasting can all be powerful prayer practices. Join us in reimagining how we embody prayer this Lenten season. Copies of the book are available at church, and for those more electronically inclined, an eBook version is available for download. On Monday evenings from 7:00 - 8:15 pm from February 27- March 27, we will be gathering weekly on zoom to reflect together and deepen our practice of prayer beyond words.  Those who can’t (or don’t want to) join the weekly gathering are still welcome to use the Beyond Words book to support their Lenten prayer practice. If you are interested in learning more, speak to Karen Horrocks, Jocelyn Tidwell or Terry Doyle who will be coordinating the weekly group meetings.  You can also use the sign-up sheet that can be found on the bulletin board at church so that you receive weekly emails for updates and the zoom link for participating in the program.

Ash Wednesday Services  Wednesday February 22.

Both services have Holy Communion and Imposition of Ashes. Connie+ will also be available at the church from 8:00 - 9:00 am and 1:30-2:30 pm for individual prayer and Imposition of Ashes.  The 7 pm service will be livestreamed via Zoom and YouTube.

The Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper will be held on February 21 from 5:30-7:30 pm.  This event is sponsored by St. George's Youth Group in support of the 2023 Youth Mission Trip. Diaper Collection through February
One of the families in the Gaywood Food Program welcomed a new baby over the Christmas break. To assist the family with what we know can be a significant expense, we will be collecting disposable diapers, sizes 1 & 2, through the month of February. Diapers can be left near the food pantry bins outside the main office. Thank you for your generous support of the families at Gaywood!
