The Deacon’s Role and Ministry Sunday, May 3 at 11:30 am Deacons are a part of the ordained leadership of The Episcopal Church. In 2012, Bishop Mariann Budde ordained the first deacons for the Episcopal Diocese of Washington. The deacon is a servant leader who is the Church’s and their Bishops’ emissary to the community. As a result of being present in the community, they ascertain the community’s needs, hopes, and concerns and bring these needs, hopes, and concerns, especially those of the marginalized, to the Church. If you would like to learn more about the deacon’s role and mission, our deacon intern, Wendy Pohlhaus, is giving a presentation explaining the deacon’s ministry after the 10 am service on Sunday, May 3. |
