The Path: A Journey through the Bible – Sign Up Today!
Our next adult education adventure begins Wednesday, June 3 as we launch a weekly Bible study to explore key landmark events of the Bible moving from Genesis to Revelation. We will draw on a condensed Bible version compiled by Melody Wilsom Shobe and David Creech and published through Forward Movement. We will read one chapter per week and hold weekly discussions on Wednesdays from 6:45 to 8:00 pm via Zoom (HERE). If you would like a copy of the book, there is a sign up sheet on the credenza, or call the church office to have your name included. Books are available to pick up now! Questions go to Connie+ or any of the members of the adult formation team: Karen Horrocks, Jocelyn Tidwell, or Terry Doyle. Blind Date with a Book Mission Trip Fundraiser June 7 Are you looking for your next summer read but aren't sure what book to get? Cursed with the challenge of overflowing shelves of previous summer reads? The Youth Group is here to help with both! We're collecting gently used books in the Narthex between now and June 5 and will hold a book sale after the 10 am service on June 7. Not just any book sale though! This is a “surprise” book sale! We'll wrap the books and put brief descriptions on each, and for a low low donation price, you can take home surprise books to enjoy. From Tolstoy's Peter the First to the preschool favorite Pete the Cat, we have it all! We hope. Finally, we leave you with the words of Dr. Seuss, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” Ministry Fair Sunday, June 14 Please join us during the hospitality hour on Sunday, June 14 for the Ministry Fair. This is your opportunity to learn more about all of the ministries that keep St. George’s running. Representatives will be available from each ministry to talk about their ministry and sign up anyone who wants to participate. If you have ever had a question about how to become a Lay Eucharistic Minister or help out the Justice League, how to get involved in Sunday School or how to support the Gaywood Food Ministry (and so much more), this is your chance to get that question answered! If you have any questions about the Ministry Fair itself, please speak to Zulma Santiago or any member of the vestry. In Need of Spaghetti Sauce Jars for Flowers
The lovely flower arrangements in the sanctuary on Sundays are one array that has been set into two or more spaghetti sauce jars. This allows the flowers to be given to those in need of some cheer or delivered to those who are homebound. Many thanks to Nell Sydavar for making this happen! Square jars are preferred though rounded ones are okay; please soak off the labels before you bring them in for the flower ministry. The Path: A Journey through the Bible – Sign Up Today! Potato and Onion Sunday This Sunday This Sunday is the potato and onion collection for Saint Matthew’s. Our donation provides food for over 275 families. In addition to the potatoes and onions, we need help moving them in two ways: if you can help move potatoes and onions from trunks to the church before or after service, please let Connie+ know; we also need people to load and deliver the potatoes and onions to St. Matthew’s on Wednesday, May 13.
