Each of us is invited to set aside $1 a day for the 40 days of Lent and bring that offering on or before Easter. Each year the St. George's Justice League chooses a recipient of our offering, and this year we want to support immigrants in our communities - specifically in our neighboring Episcopal parishes. "Assist local parishes in meeting the needs of immigrants" is what the envelope says. You can pick up an envelope today as a reminder of giving as a spiritual practice of Lent. Bowie Food Pantry Collection This Sunday
Thank you St. George’s for the extremely generous donations for the Bowie Food Pantry in February. They were amazed by the amount of food that was brought over to them. In March, the needs are a little different. This month they would like condiments such as salad dressing, BBQ sauce, mayonnaise, and mustard. They can also use canned beefaroni, canned tuna, and peanut butter and jelly. Please bring in your contributions by this Sunday, March 9. Thank you so much! Warm Nights Collection This Sunday, March 9 and Next Sunday, March 16 It’s Warm Nights time again! This year, St. George’s will provide 100 lunches and 100 breakfasts on two separate weekends for the guests served in the Warm Nights Program. That is a total of 200 breakfasts and 200 lunches. The lunches will be made on Saturday, March 15 and Saturday, March 22. The Justice League asks for your help to provide some of the non-perishable foods. Here are the needed items: • Packets of oatmeal • Breakfast bars • Multipacks of chips or salty snacks • Cases of water • Shelf-stable milk Financial contributions are also welcome so we can purchase the meat, cheese, bread and fruit that are also needed. Supplies will need to be brought in by Sunday, March 9 or Sunday, March 16. There is a sign up sheet in church on Sunday so you can sign up for whatever you can provide. If you have any questions, please see Peggy Alexander.
